The Education Commons project competency center will review all submissions and evaluate each project's impact based on several criteria:
1. Strategic Alignment: Projects will be assessed based on their support for current annual goals and alignment with the overall Academic Plan and Education Commons Strategic Plan. Goals are categorized as Critical, Very Important, or Important. The alignment will be ranked on a scale from weak to strong, considering the project's support for these goals.
2. Risk Mitigation: The University of Toronto's risk register and annual self-assessment (DAI IRSA) will be used to evaluate risk levels. Risks are rated as High or Very High, with criteria such as operating funding, data integrity, cybersecurity, and compliance being considered. The mitigation of these risks will also be assessed.
3. Mandatory, Non-Discretionary Undertaking: Some projects may be mandatory due to collective agreement changes, legislation, government policy, or cybersecurity needs. These will be rated on the urgency and necessity of immediate action.
4. Feasibility: This stage assesses the project's feasibility based on the required effort, resources, and systems. Key aspects include the estimated time to complete, cost, and the magnitude of resources needed. Projects will be ranked from Insignificant to Extremely Significant based on these factors.
